BAILEYVILLE – Althea Mae McLaughlin, 86, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Atlantic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Calais. Althea was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Forrest Station, daughter of the late Uriah and Mary (McIver) Howland. On Feb. 19, 1944, she married George McLaughlin in Princeton. Althea enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling and camping with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, George McLaughlin Sr.; four brothers, Harold, Uriah, Kenneth and Lloyd; and one sister, Dorothy. Surviving are her three children, George McLaughlin Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Calais, James McLaughlin and his wife, Vicki, of Baileyville and Laurie McLaughlin of Colorado; six grandchildren, Melinda, David and his wife, Hanna, Jamie and his wife, Stacy, Jeff and his wife, Sarah, Chad and John; eight much loved great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eugenia Lawless of Princeton and Ruth Nichol of Massachusetts; one brother, Bruce Howland and his wife, Evelyn, of Calais; four special sisters-in-law, Ethel, Rita, Kay and Arlene; many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Althea’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville.
