BREWER – Andrew Charles Ivers, 86, died Dec. 5, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born May 13, 1924, in Waterville, son of Charles Ivers Jr. and Mary (Clair) Ivers. Andy was born and raised in the Waterville area. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was wounded in Italy and received a Purple Heart. Andy loved to bowl and won many awards. There are fond memories of bowling with the many friends he had developed throughout the years. He loved his pets, especially his dogs that predeceased him. Andy loved his Boston Red Sox and was a loyal fan his whole life. He is survived by dear friends, Joseph Herbert of Brewer and Monica Woodsome of Brewer. The family expresses thanks and gratitude to the staff at Eastside Rehabilitation for the wonderful care and compassion that Andy received. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of Advent Christian Church, Bangor, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterville.
