LIMESTONE – Edwina M. (St. Amand) Pelkey, 75, passed away Dec. 3, 2010, in Houlton, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in St. Leonard, New Brunswick. She was a resident of Limestone since 1952, when she married Patrick J. Pelkey Sr. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Edwina enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and bingo. She was also a member of Daughters of St. Anne. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Patrick J. Pelkey Sr., in 1991; her parents, Onezime and Alice (Parent) St. Amand; sisters, Constance Levesque and Mary Mae St. Amand; and brothers, Omar, Ronald and Phillip St. Amand. Survivors include her seven children, Linda Gideons of Louisville, Ky., Irene Ellis and husband, Todd, of Fort Fairfield, Arthur Pelkey and Sharon of Albany, Ga., Patrick J. Pelkey Jr. and Annette of Presque Isle, Richard Pelkey and Diana of Caribou, Ronald Pelkey of Presque Isle, and Rodney Pelkey and Chris of Chelmsford, Mass. She also has 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leonard, Paul and Gilbert St. Amand of Canada; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Bea Butler of Limestone. There will be a memorial Mass 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at St. Dennis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. Interment will be held in July. Donations may be made in her memory to American Cancer Society.
