EXETER – Maxine R. Slate, 86, wife of Lester E. Slate, died Dec. 8, 2010, at her home. She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Pittsfield, daughter of Harold L. and Ethel V. (Collamore) Pushor. Maxine sold real estate for several years and in later years cared for her family as a homemaker. She loved to travel and managed to see 49 of the 50 states. Maxine loved family parties and could not resist any reason to get together with her loved ones. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Lester; are two daughters, Sally Mitton and her husband, Bill, of Augusta, and Sue Slate of Exeter; three grandchildren, Stacy Cote and her husband, Anthony, of South Berwick, William Bligh of Exeter, and Travis Mitton of Augusta; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Caden Bligh, both of Exeter; one sister, Diana Smith and her husband, Richard, of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother, Donald Pushor and his wife, Eileen, of Guilford; as well as several nieces and nephews. Maxine was predeceased by a son, Lester E. Slate II. Friends may call 11 a.m. Saturday until time of funeral services noon at Thompson Funeral Home, 30 St. Albans Road, Corinna, with Pastor David Ray Sr. officiating.
