OLD TOWN – George A. Lozier Jr., 87, died peacefully Dec. 12, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Old Town, the son of George Sr. and Edna (Page) Lozier. He was a graduate of Old Town High School and Husson College. George was a proud World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Boston. He served as the code enforcement officer for Old Town, Milford and Bradley for more than 30 years, and held various positions at Penobscot Federal Credit Union. He was an active member of Holy Family Church and served as Eucharistic minister for many years and was very active with Knight of Columbus, Father Druillette Council, fourth degree. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golf and camp. George will be fondly remembered for his warm personality, great sense of humor and love of family. He enjoyed his cats: Binky, and Ceasar and Raja, his Siamese cats. He is survived by a daughter, Christine Jenkins; six grandchildren, Rob Jenkins, Stephanie Shook, Michelle Bear and her husband, Robert, Melissa Burns and her husband, Ken, George Bailey and his wife, Amy, and Timothy Bacon; six great-grandchildren, Robbie, Corey, Abigail, Elizabeth, George and Hunter Michael; and a sister, Leonardean Burr. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, in 2009; and a daughter, Deborah Campbell, in 2004. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where members of Knights of Columbus will recite prayers 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church. Interment will be at Lawndale Cemetery. Immediately after the service all are invited to the parish hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
