GARDINER – Chester Delmar Trimmer passed peacefully Dec. 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Chet was born Nov. 30, 1936, in York, Pa. In York, Pa., he attended William Penn Senior High School. Chet lived in York, Pa., until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was happy to share stories of his days with the military police. On March 10, 1960, Chet married the love of his life, Roxana Stiles. Chet and Roxana celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Chet and his young family relocated to Maine in 1964. He attended Westbrook College, Westbrook. He was employed for many years at James McBrady’s/SMR. Chet worked with metal and became well known for his artistic abilities with copper. Chet excelled as a baseball player and won many trophies for baseball and dart tournaments. He was a diehard Yankee fan. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Club. He was a very hardworking provider, excellent father and devoted husband. Chet had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious smile that will light our hearts forever. Chet was predeceased by his parents, Sadie and Chester; and four sisters. He is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Roxana Stiles; sons, Christopher, Gregory, Jeffery and Jonathan; and one daughter, Jessica. Chet spent many happy hours with his beloved grandchildren, Tegan, Chris, Curtis, Allison, Patrick, Lucas, Jake and Bella Gianna. He is also survived by his loving sister, Ruth Glatfelter; many nieces and nephews in York, Pa.; as well as his two furry companions, Teddy and Angel. Many, many thanks to our friend and home health nurse, Mimi. A wake will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
