MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho – Freida J. McLaughlin, 76, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Charleston, the daughter of Frederick and Beryl Clement. Feida graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1952 and attended the University of Maine, majoring in civil engineering. She married Robert Lyford McLaughlin of Levant, Aug. 6, 1954, in Burtonwood, England. They resided in Walpole, Mass., for 35 years. They resided in Mountain Home, Idaho, in the early 1960s and she returned in 1997. Freida was a retired sales manager of 17 years for Sears, Roebuck and Co., Dedham, Mass. She enjoyed family, friends, travel, sewing, playing cards and dancing. Freida is survived by two children, Joanne C. and her husband, Glenn Scott, of Somersworth, N.H., and Robert James and his wife, Jayne McLaughlin, of Vienna, Va.; her sisters, Ada Nason of Washington, N.H., Beverly and her husband, James Woody, of Marion, N.C., Paula Clement-Smith of Charleston and Joan Clement of Micco, Fla.; brothers, Theron Clement, George Clement and Kimberly Clement, all of Charleston and James Clement of Linneus; grandchildren, Matthew Jordan and his fiancee, Courtney Evans, Jessalyn and her husband, John Simms, Patrick J.M. McLaughlin and Geoffry C.M. McLaughlin; and great-grandson, Parker L. Simms. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; and brother, Frederick Clement. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at South Levant Baptist Church, 784 Horseback Road, Levant, with the Rev. Phillip Bean officiating. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service. After the service relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the church.
