BELFAST – Eric Beenfeldt, 66, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, in Belfast. Eric graduated from Lafayette College in 1966 and worked as a design engineer on NASA projects for the lunar module that landed on the moon in 1969. After moving to Maine, he earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering and was on the faculty of the electrical and computer engineering department at the University of Maine until his retirement in May 2010. Eric is survived by his wife of 41 years, Robin Kruger; his daughter, Megan and her husband, Mark Orton, and grandson, Max, of Portland, Ore.; his son, Daniel and his wife, Nanae Toyozato, of Sammamish, Wash.; his sister, Kristy and brother-in-law, Dirk De Vries; sister-in-law, Karen McDonnell; a niece, Shannon McDonnell; nephew, Lawrence McDonnell; and also his great buddy, Brody. The family will have a private ceremony in the spring.
