PRESQUE ISLE – Earl Miles Durost, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at AHC Skilled Nursing Unit, Mars Hill. He was born Dec. 2, 1952, in Washburn, the son of Clifford and Joyce (Corey) Durost Sr. Pastor Durost attended Washburn schools, Faith School of Theology, North Central Bible College and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in pastoral studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He worked as a teacher in Maine school systems and as a pastor in Baileyville and most recently at Church of Jesus, Presque Isle. During his earthly journey, he enjoyed teaching, especially the word of God. His first passion was sharing time with his family. He was well respected in his community and he continued to teach faith and perseverance during his battle with cancer. He was a beacon of God’s light to all who knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife, Wanda (Mullen) Durost; a daughter, Ericka and her husband, Jamin; grandchildren, Parker and Bronwyn Potter; siblings, Charles Durost and his wife, Mora, Faye Hansen, and her husband, Steven, Betty LaPlante, Joyce Doak and her husband, Rick, Mary Rossignol, Jane Pante and her husband, Richard, Cathy Leavitt and her husband, David, Clifford Durost Jr. and Lois Murphy and her husband, Roger; stepmother, Ada Durost; as well as several extended family members, including parishioners of Church of Jesus. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents. The family thanks the community, family and friends for all the support they have received in kindness and prayer. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Church of Jesus, Chapman Street, Presque Isle, where a celebration of Earl’s life will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Mark Carter and the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. A reception will be held after the service at the church. A committal service will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery.
