HERMON – Percival H. Smith Jr., 76, died Dec. 18, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Abbott, the son of Percival and Ella (McLaughlin) Smith. Percival served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring as a chief warrant officer 2 in 1973. He worked for C.S. Winchester, Brewer, for 17 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Takeji (Hirayama) Smith of Hermon; son, P.H. Smith of Lewiston; daughters, Rose-Marie and her husband, Ron Dennis, of Hampden and Eunice Smith and her fianc?, Matthew Clukey, of Levant; sister, Louise Hunt of Connecticut; brothers, Ralph Smith and his wife, Doris, of Connecticut and Adolph Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Abbott; and grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Melissa, Elizabeth, Shaina, Brian and Mariah. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Robert Smith; his sister, Eunice Finley; and brothers, James Smith and Seldon Hardy. The family thanks the staff at Maine Veterans Home for their dedication and care. Graveside services with military honors will be held next spring at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon.
