MONTICELLO – Chavala Folsom, 101, died Dec. 15, 2010, at a local health care facility. She was born Dec. 12, 1909, in Monticello, the daughter of Wilmont and Isa Porter. She attended grammar school in Monticello and attended Ricker Classical Institute, Houlton. She was predeceased by her husband, Vaughn; son, Garth; sister, Hilda; and brother, Linwood. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Norma Folsom of Monticello; two grandchildren, Kim Folsom of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Kathy Schaffer of Severna, Md.; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. At her request, there will be no funeral. There will be a graveside service in the spring.
