MADAWASKA – Gilbert J. Cyr Sr., 71, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 20, 2010, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born June 12, 1939, in Madawaska, son of Jean Baptiste and Delphine (Lagasse) Cyr. Gilbert worked at Fraser Paper for 35 years. Gilbert leaves behind a family of six children, Cindy Lavoie and her companion, Charles, Gilbert Cyr Jr. and his wife, Valrie, Deborah Levesque and her husband, Hervin, John Cyr and his wife, Sharol, Leo Cyr and his wife, Sharon, and Susan Ouellette and her husband, Richard; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gilmay Deschaine. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Family and friends may call 8 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Lajoie Funeral Home.
