FRANKFORT and SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Winona “Nonie” (Canty) Reed died Dec. 20, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Southwest Harbor. She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Lowell, Mass., daughter of Patrick Russell and Winona (Ferguson) Canty. She was a loving wife and mother. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold, in 1991, and looked forward to being with him once again. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Smith and husband, Torn, of Dayton, Texas, Mary Ellen Martel and husband, Jack, of Southwest Harbor, and Patricia Hutchins and husband, Rick, of Barre, Vt. She is also survived by grandchildren, David Fougere, Kimberly Kelley, Theresa Aldy, Jennifer Martel and Adam Hutchins; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Christina and James Fougere, Courtney Hernandez, Elizabeth and Catherine Kelley, and Cory Brogan; great-great-grandchildren, Braden and Michael Hernandez; and a very dear friend, Bonnie Veinote. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; and her four siblings, Ruby, Jack, Russell and Beatrice. Graveside services and a celebration of Nonie’s life will be held in the spring. Contributions in Nonie’s memory may be made to the Santa’s Helper Fund of the Salvation Army, P.O.
