AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine state government offices are closed to reduce expenses. State offices are also closed Friday, in observance of Christmas.
Gov. John Baldacci says Thursday’s closures were authorized as a cost-saving initiative for the budget that ends in June. He says every effort was made to reduce the impact to Maine people, businesses and communities.
Thursday’s closure is the fifth of 10 state government closure days this fiscal year.
