ORRINGTON – Evelyn (Clarey) Dow, 95, wife of the late Lawrence B. Dow, died Dec. 28, 2010, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Bangor, daughter of Peter and Margaret (McGuigan) Clarey. Evelyn and her husband spent winters in Florida and summers at their camp at Moosehead Lake after Lawrence retired. Evelyn enjoyed walking at the mall and exercise classes at Brewer Auditorium. She walked in the Terry Fox Run in 1999 and 2000. She enjoyed knitting and listening to her CDs by pianist, Phil House of Auburn. Evelyn is survived by a sister, Helen Nichols; nieces and nephews; loving caregiver, Elaine Clarey and her daughter, Risa Clarey; Evelyn’s little angel, Emily; and very special friends, Blanche and Edward Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, in 1997; two brothers, Edward Clarey and Oscar “Pete” Clarey; and one special nephew, Robert Clarey, husband of Elaine Clarey. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where relatives and friends are welcome to call 10 a.m. until time of service Monday. Spring interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
