VAN NUYS, Calif. – Joanne Sheila (Cummings) Hond died Dec. 24, 2010, with family at her side, at a Van Nuys (Calif.) health care facility. She was born May 14, 1937, in Portsmouth, N.H., to Bess and Eugene Cummings. The family moved to Bangor in the 1950s and Joanne graduated from Bangor High School in 1955. Joanne loved theater and after high school, went to LeLand Powers School, Boston. She moved to California during the 60s and lived there until her death. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert Cummings; two sons, Jeffrey Cotton and Sterling Cotton; and her husband, Stanley Hond. She is survived by a granddaughter, Nicole Cotton; and cousins, Constance Schiro Kelsey, Lawrence Schiro and his wife, Rachel, and a very special cousin, Jeff Schiro, who was there to help ease her life’s burdens.
