ELLSWORTH – Richard Paul Neale, 83, died Dec. 31, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 28, 1927, in Waite, the only son of Raleigh S. and Margery (Ripley) Neale. Dick graduated from Lee Academy. He served five years in the U.S. Navy. He later worked for the state of Maine Department of Transportation for 34 years giving his very best every day. Dick left us on New Year’s Eve, leaving a big empty place, but also a world of happy times to remember. His love of outdoors and nature was second only to the love he had for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margery (Thornton) Neale; two daughters, Laurel Neale Richards and husband, Scott, all of Ellsworth, and Heather Neale Everett of Bath; a son, Joel Richard Neale and wife, Debra, of Ellsworth; five grandchildren, Mark Hellum and wife, Melanie, Richard N. Everett, Joseph S. Richards, Bailey C. Neale and Madison M. Neale; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Reece Hellum and Ryan Richards. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Peter Thornton Neale; a sister, Elizabeth Dwelley; a nephew, Orland Dwelley; and a granddaughter, Faith.
