WINTERPORT – Leon A. Rancourt Sr., 87, passed away Jan. 1, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 24, 1923, in St. Albans, son of Harry and Alice (Roderick) Rancourt. Leo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He spent his working career in the construction industry as a business owner and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Belfast, where he loved playing bingo. He was an avid deer hunter, which he enjoyed with his son, Leon Jr., and also enjoyed spending time at camp on East Grand Lake. Surviving are his daughters and their husbands, Suzanne and Lee Rodriguez of Pflugerville, Texas, Maryanne Sullivan of Blairsville, Ga., Lee and Marcus Sibley of Lincoln, Joyce and Robert Osgood of Winterport, Karen and Brian Brown of Winterport, and Patty and Larry Davis of Monson; his son, Leon Rancourt Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Winterport; two brothers, John Rancourt and his wife, Ruth, and Reginald Rancourt and his wife, Elva, all of Winterport; two sisters, Marguerite Arrants and Geraldine Gavard, both of Winterport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Olive M. (Lowe) Rancourt; and two infant sons, Timothy and David. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren. Private burial will be in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
