NEW LIMERICK – David A. White, 94, died Jan. 8, 2011, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Ludlow, the son of Andrew J. And Pearl (Estey) White. David was a communicant of St. Mary of the Visitation Church, was a 1935 graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and worked throughout Aroostook for 30-plus years with the state of Maine Department of Agriculture as a produce inspector, retiring in 1981. He served with the Army Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion during World War II. He is survived by a sister, Marjorie and Clark Matthew of New York; four stepgrandsons, George Parsons of California, Peter Parsons of Florida, and David Parsons and Fred Parsons, both of Presque Isle; brother-in-law, Philip Hayden; and special friends, Marge, Ann and Trisha. He also leaves his friends; neighbors; special helper, Taylor Locke; several nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to everyone at Brookside Restaurant and helpers at Meals on Wheels – you were all so good to him and held a soft spot in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Georgina; brothers, Harold and Cyril; and sister, Pauline White. At David’s request, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Visitation Church. Spring interment with military honors will take place at Ludlow Cemetery.
