PERHAM – Carl H. Delano Sr., 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, with family and friends at his side at his residence. He was born May 12, 1920, in Georgetown, the son of Arthur F. and Edna B. (Cunningham) Delano. Carl attended Georgetown schools and entered the service in June 1944. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in the European Theater. After the war he worked for many years at Bath Iron Works as a pipe fitter, before moving to work at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he retired as a foreman pipe fitter. He is survived by three children, Carl Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Sanford, Deborah Standish of South Berwick and Dawn Stuart of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Gloris Pinette of Bath; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; five stepsons and one stepdaughter, John Laframboise of Meridan, Conn., Vern of New Fane, Vt., Stuart of Wells, Doug of Satellite Beach, Fla., Phil of Newport Beach, Calif., and Lisa Laframboise of Presque Isle; and 11 stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Simone R. (LaFond) Delano; and a daughter, Sharon Saiauski, in 2006. There will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Dave Goupille officiating.
