SACO – Mr. Kim Grady Girard, 59, passed away peacefully Jan. 13, 2011, at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 14, 1951, in Biddeford, son of Robert Lloyd and Viola Grady Girard. Kim grew up in Old Orchard Beach and attended Old Orchard Beach schools. Kim operated his family plumbing and heating business, Girard Plumbing and Heating, as president since 1971, until his wife, Debra, took over a year ago. Kim was a lifelong member of United Baptist Church, Saco, where he served on the board of trustees and the board of deacons. He was also a proud member of Rotary and also served as president of Maine Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors Organization. Kim was a spiritual and compassionate man who loved his friends and family, and would go out of his way to help others in time of need. Kim also enjoyed golfing, vacationing with his family and spending time with his grandson, William. Kim was predeceased by his parents, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Debra Girard of Saco; his daughter, Lindsay McNaughton and her husband, Adam, and grandson, William Robert McNaughton, of Saco; his daughter, Melissa Rice and her husband, Christian, of Singapore; brother, Gary Girard and his wife, Dale, of Newport, Vt.; father-in-law, William Eaton and mother-in-law, Georgianna, of Bedford, N.H.; brother-in-law, Joseph Eaton and his wife, Jan, of Amherst, N.H.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Arsenault of Concord, N.H., and her sons, J. Arsenault of Manchester, N.H., and Brady Arsenault of Concord, N.H.; extended family, Ralph McNaughton and his wife, Diana, of Newport; and extended church family and members at United Baptist Church, Saco. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at United Baptist Church, 318 Main St., Saco, with the Rev. Dr. Burton S. Howe officiating. A reception will be held at the church. A brief graveside service will be after at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kim’s honor may be made to the Prostate Cancer Research Fund at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, care of Dr. Glenn J.
