BANGOR – Laila H. Lainey, 92, wife of the late Raymond L. Lainey, died Jan. 12, 2011, at a Bangor nursing center. She was born April 1, 1918, in Presque Isle, the daughter of David and Bertha (Wheaton) Hartt. Laila was a longtime resident of Presque Isle and moved during retirement to Winthrop, where she resided for many years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Winthrop, and Ladies of St. Ann Sodality, Winthrop. Surviving are seven children, Barbara Voight of Phoenix, David Lainey and his longtime partner, Susan Burke, of Nashua, N.H., Lou Lainey and his wife, Melanie, of Sherman, Sara Herr and her husband, Warren, of Johnston, Pa., Mary Greenwood and her husband, Dennis, of Pelham, N.H., Phyllis Anderson and her husband, Jason, of Pembroke, N.H., and Nora Walker of Ellsworth; one sister, Tressa Soucy and her husband, Richard, of Franklin, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Doris Douthat of New York; and 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Spring burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Presque Isle.
