OLD TOWN – Edith A. “Edie” Dalton, 80, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at a local health care facility in Bangor. She was born Oct. 12, 1930, daughter of William and Mary Laura Carr of Stillwater. At the time of her passing, she resided at The Meadows, Old Town. Edie was educated in Old Town schools and worked in her early years at Sampson’s Supermarket, Brewer, with her brother, Frank. Edie enjoyed living at The Meadows and participated in many activities such as bingo, trivia, monthly birthday parties and craft night, and she often played the piano for their monthly church service. Edie is survived by daughters, Maria Forbes of Iowa, Anita Lacadie and her husband, Rick, of Milford, Peg Buchanan and her husband, Peter, of Levant and Nancy Rovito and her friend, Bob Hitchcock, of Bangor; son, Richard Dalton Jr. of Portland; brothers, Bill Carr and his wife, Becky, and Frank Carr and his wife, Beth; a very special niece, Kathy Carr; nephew, Kevin Carr and his wife, Melinda; nine grandchildren, Teri Hinrichs, Robbi Forbes, Nicole Lacadie, Dickie Lacadie, Patti Howard, J.P. Moors, Laura Moors, Erica and Elizabeth Rovito; along with 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Edie will by sadly missed by her best friend of 78 years, Anita Leonard and her husband, Ralph, of Old Town; and special friends, Alice Beatham and Dot Smith, among many others. Edie was predeceased by her husband, Richard Dalton; and special son-in-law, Bob Forbes. The family especially thanks the staff at The Meadows for providing our Mom with the quality of care that she truly deserved. Also, thank-you to the staff at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who cared for her as she passed. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Stillwater Federated Church, Bennoch Road, Stillwater, with the Rev. Joan DeSanctis officiating, with light refreshments afterward in the church vestry. Edie loved her church families.
