GUILFORD – Marilyn G. Knowles Haskell, 79, died Jan. 15, 2011, at her home. She was born March 5, 1931, in Presque Isle, daughter of Basil and Goldie (Hansen) Brooker. Marilyn worked at Gold Nugget Restaurant, Guilford, for many years, and later for Hardwood Products Co., Guilford. She will be remembered as a strong woman, who worked hard to support her family … she lived her life her way. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Linda and Frank Gilbert of Abbot; four grandchildren, Kristen and her husband, Dustin Lander, of Guilford, Gus and his wife, Mandy Snowden, of Abbot, Pam Gilbert of Nevada and Peggy Gilbert of Guilford; four great-grandchildren, Stephen Bowley of Guilford, Riley Snowden of Abbot, Prudence Bridge of Guilford and Chase Lander of Guilford; a brother and his wife, Brian and Linda Brooker of Sangerville; a sister and her husband, Maxine and Francis Grant of Sangerville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Violet Hunt of Abbot. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, William L. Haskell; two sons, Michael Knowles and David Knowles; two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Blanchard Cemetery, Abbot.
