LUBEC – Carroll L. Dinsmore, 85, passed away Jan. 17, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Trescott, son of Erman and Edna Dinsmore. He attended Lubec schools prior to serving in the Korean War with the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. He married his wife, Carolyn, on Christmas Eve 1955, and together they had a son, Jack, in 1957; and a daughter, Lois, in 1960. He was employed as an aircraft technician with Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut before returning home to Lubec, where he worked at Sherwood Prout farms, several construction projects in Washington County, and finally at Roosevelt Campobello International Park. He retired in 2000 to enjoy his favorite pastime, gardening, and to spend time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Hazel Lingley, Fay Denbow and Helen Morang; and brothers, Kenneth and “Ronald” Mike. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Dinsmore; a son, Jack Dinsmore and wife, Elizabeth, of Millinocket; a daughter, Lois and her husband, Rydell Flynn, of Campobello Island; three grandchildren, Catherine Singley and husband, Chris, of Jacksonville, N.C., Kelly Dinsmore of Augusta, and Brandon Flynn of Campobello Island, New Brunswick; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Novotasky and husband, Edward, of Glastonbury, Conn.; brother, Glenn and wife, Barbara, of Leominster, Mass.; and sisters-in-law, Hilda Dinsmore of Enfield, Conn., and Muriel Dinsmore of Brewer. A graveside memorial service will be held in Lubec in the spring. Arrangements by McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
