PERHAM – John Herbert Pickard, 61, a generous and loving father, grandfather and companion, died peacefully Jan. 17, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1949, in Millinocket, son of the late Herbert and Geraldine (McMann) Pickard. He spent many years working as a poly mechanic at Potato Service and Interstate Foods, but his most memorable work was cutting wood with his horse, Dick. He enjoyed gardening, farming, playing cards and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Cochran and her husband, Terry; two granddaughters, Samantha and Melissa Cochran, all of Perham; two sisters, Madeline Tardy and Bonnie Klimas; two brothers, Terrance and Herbert Pickard, all of Florida; and a special friend, Kathryn Perley of Perham. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Pickard; and his granddaughter, Felicia Cochran. In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or immediate service. A memorial service is planned for this summer. Cremation arrangements are in care of Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
