OLD TOWN and HARMONY – Raymond C. Moniz Jr., 83, died peacefully Jan. 16, 2011, at his residence. He was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., son of Raymond Sr. and Adal (DeRosa) Moniz. Ray graduated from Marblehead High School in 1945 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1953. Ray was a Verizon employee for more than 30 years. After retiring to Maine, Ray attended St. Ann’s Church, Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Indian Island. Raymond is survived by his two sons, Daniel Moniz and his wife, Susan, of Hamilton, Mass., and David Moniz and his wife, Karen, of Topsfield, Mass.; and his four grandchildren, Kellyann, Sarah, Sherilyn and Timothy. In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his longtime companion, Christine Doucette of Old Town; a sister, Elizabeth Taylor; as well as his son, Raymond C. Moniz III of Beverly, Mass.
