CLINTON – Robert “Bob” A. Turcotte, 80, formerly of Skowhegan, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, in Waterville. He was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Skowhegan, son of the late Joseph A. Turcotte and Josephine F. (Beaulieu) Turcotte. Bob graduated from Skowhegan High School, Class of 1948. After high school he entered the Air Force, serving four terms entering Jan. 12, 1949, and retired as a master sergeant June 21, 1971. He worked as an industrial electrician for Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, for seven years before moving to Skowhegan, where he worked for S.D. Warren Paper Co., from which he retired Sept. 2, 1992, after 15 years. After retirement he enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla., with his wife, Ethel, and many good friends. He enjoyed gardening, especially vegetables and strawberries. He also enjoyed golfing, playing pool, camping, pingpong, horseshoes and square dancing. Bob was always on hand to help his family, friends and neighbors; he loved helping others and was a very devoted and giving man. He took great pride in being a dad and pepere. On Dec. 28, 1951, he married Juliet Mary Goguen. Together they had four children. She passed away April 4, 1962. He later married Ethel Ring, March 2, 1976, and became a family with eight children. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ethel Turcotte of Clinton; his children, Ron Turcotte and his wife, Joyce, of Topsham, Zita Osgood and her husband, Bob, of Holden, Lorraine Ingle and her husband, Philip, of Harpswell, Jim Turcotte and his wife, Becky, of Clinton, Barbara Hendsbee and her husband, Donnie, of East Millinocket, Sandy Foster and her husband, Doug, of Oakland, Zorene Vallier and her husband, Mark, of Burnham and Jeff Turcotte and his wife, Michele, of Spokane Valley, Wash.; 22 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Thomas of Littleton, Colo.; one aunt, Doris Turcotte of Skowhegan; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Juliet; two brothers, Richard Kenneth Turcotte and Raymond William Turcotte; and one grandson, Jeremy Matthew Hendsbee. Viewing hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21.
