SHERMAN – Virginia Welch, 90, went to be with her Lord Jan. 22, 2011. She was born May 16, 1920, in Sherman, the daughter of Edwin and Josie (Dolley) Lane. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1938. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles A. Welch, in 1942, at Camp Drum, N.Y. She loved camp on Perry Pond, crocheting, crossword puzzles, flowers and reading, and enjoyed having company. She is survived by three children, Charles E. and Liz of Benedicta, Benita of Patten and Karen and Pastor Steve of Mattawamkeag; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, three brothers and two sisters. Friends may call 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Calvary Baptist Church, Stacycille, where funeral services will be held 4 p.m. with her son-in-law Pastor Steve McNally and grandson Aaron McNally officiating.
