WINTER HAVEN, Fla., and CARIBOU – Kirk Douglas Gunnerson, 50, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, with his parents and family by his side in Winter Haven, Fla., after a short illness. Kirk was born June 25, 1960, in Caribou, one of four children to Elmer Gunnerson and Loretta Patterson, now retired in Winter Haven, Fla. Kirk graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1979. He served 10 years in the Army, after which he spent time in Alaska and moved to Florida five years ago. Kirk worked for a golf course and was able to enjoy his favorite pastime of golf. Kirk is survived by his parents, Elmer Gunnerson and Loretta Patterson of Winter Haven, Fla.; his three sisters, Kim Sweeney of Stockholm, Karen Peterson of Cordova, Alaska, and Kelly Landeen of Connor; and one stepsister, Amy Green of Brunswick. Services will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stockholm, with an interment ceremony afterward at Caribou Veterans Cemetery.
