HAMPDEN – Sherrill Joy (Reid) Morrell, 65, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 24, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. Sherrill was born May 7, 1945, in Stoneham, Mass., the daughter of the Rev. John Charles and Norma L. (Damery) Reid. As a young child Sherrill and her family moved from Pawtucket, R.I., to Kingfield, where she attended schools between the sixth and tenth grade. She then moved to Pennsylvania to finish her last two years of school to prepare her for college. Sherrill was a graduate of Towanda Area High School, Towanda, Pa. In 1964 Sherrill married Steve Morrell, and had two children, Steve Jr. and Christy. The Morrells have lived in the Bangor area, particularly Hampden, since 1977. Sherrill worked with her husband in his accounting and tax business. Some of her greatest times were spent getting together with her children, grandchildren and other family and friends, taking many family trips together along the Maine coast. She and Steve also enjoyed trips to visit Steve Jr. in the many different states he was stationed, as well as visits with her sisters during the holidays. She loved to watch the birds – especially the cardinals – come to the bird feeders, her flower gardens, reading in her quiet time and cooking for her family. Sherrill will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Sherrill is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Steven M. Morrell of Hampden; her children, Steven Morrell Jr. and Christy Morrell; grandchildren, Benjamin Everhart, all of Hampden, and Ashley Morrell of Massachusetts; her sister, Louise Fisher and husband, Frank, of Towanda, Pa.; brothers-in-law, Sheridan Snow of Bangor and Rudy Dyer of Farmington; sisters-in-law, Penney Morrell and Christine Mitchell of Jay, Eleanor Bell and husband, Allen Bell, of Bangor and Sandy Fickett of Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sherrill was predeceased by her parents; a granddaughter, Cheyenne; her sister, Mimi Dyer; her mother-in-law, Geraldine Morrell; and a brother-in-law, Julian Fickett. Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a service celebrating Sherrill’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, with the Rev.
