BREWER – Wayne G. Harvey “Harv,” 66, died Jan. 29, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 15, 1944, in Rockland, son of Laura Beattie Harvey and George C. Harvey.
He graduated from Rockland High School in 1962 and the University of Maine in 1966. He was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, where he made many close friends with whom he remained in contact throughout the years. Wayne’s career focused on information technology systems, and throughout his career he worked for a number of prestigious companies including John Hancock Insurance Co., Boston; Great Northern Paper Mill, Millinocket; MIS, Bangor; and Aroostook Railroad, Seven Islands Land Co., and Prentiss and Carlisle Land Management Co., retiring in 2005. Wayne was always athletic, and during his lifetime he excelled in competitive badminton, softball, racket ball and golf. Wayne was very fortunate to have achieved two holes-in-one on the golf course; with his most recent hole-in-one achieved this past summer. It was these longtime friendships made while playing those sports that he truly valued.
He is survived by his longtime fiancee, Deborah Marsters; her daughter, Tracy Jordan and Matt Jordan, and their children, Riley and Spencer of Holden; and her son, David Riley and wife, Diane, and their children, Jordan, Tyler and Jacob, of Chelmsford, Mass.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. George Curtis III, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Brewer, officiating. After the service, guests are invited to share conversation and coffee at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
