DIXMONT – Charles Arthur Lindsey Sr., 75, died Feb. 4, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. He was born July 20, 1935, the son of Ernest and Emily Lindsey Sr.
For most of Charles’ life he was a mechanic and a long distance truck driver. He enjoyed being outside. In the summer you could always find him either mowing the lawn or tinkering on something. He loved watching stock car racing and recently worked at Unity Raceway. Towards the end of his life he said he had a lot to make up for and wanted his family to know that he loved them. From the time they first saw each other, granddaughter, Lindsey and her Papa had a special bond. There was hardly a day that they didn’t see each other. He always looked forward to seeing her. We always said it was “all about Lindsey.” Charlie was a kind and generous Papa. He was special to all his 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. While in the hospital he got to meet his newest great-grandchild, Shad.
He is survived by six children, Cathy Lindsey and spouse, Charlie Anderson, of Carmel, Charles Lindsey Jr. and wife, Beth, of Hermon, Pam Little and husband, George, of Winterport, Rose Kinsella and husband, Tom, of Etna, Nancy Langley and husband, Scott, of Camden and Pat Dombrowski and husband, Ted, of Apopka, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Ernest Jr., Paul, Dick, Bob, Kenny and John; and three sisters, Emy, Barbara and Helen. Charlie will be sadly missed by special friends, Ken and Cathy Cook, their children, Derrick, Amanda and Kristin; and his little buddies, Colby, Dakota and Kaylea. Shortly before he passed he was able to hold their family’s newest addition, Chase. He will also be missed by special friends, Bob Perkins and Barbara Hackett. He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters, Alice Harvey and Carol Losier.
Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a service will be held 7 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Harvey officiating. Memorial contributions in Charles’ honor may be made to Rose Kinsella, 356 Marcho Road, Etna, ME 04434. Messages of condolence and memories may be shared through
