BANGOR – Sharon Ann Birmingham, 63, died Feb. 8, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 20, 1947, in East Millinocket, daughter of Roger and Bertha (Pelkey) Birmingham.
She was a licensed professional cosmetologist, and a loving mother and grandmother who loved cooking and knitting for her family. She enjoyed spending time working for the family at Nugent’s Sporting Camps on Chamberlain Lake.
She is survived by her son, Timothy and his wife, Amanda; as well as three granddaughters, Alexis, Alayna and Adyson, who were the loves of her life; three sisters, Leta McLaughlin and companion, Galen, of Medway, Diane Cote and husband, Richard, of Millinocket, and Brenda VanDine of Orono; a brother, Leland Libby of Vermont; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Polly Nelson of East Millinocket. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Patty Carlson; brothers, William and Butch Birmingham; and a special nephew, Michael Cote.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at First Apostolic Church, 14 Parkway South, Brewer, with Pastor D. R. Smith officiating. Friends are invited to call 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be immediately after at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to Apostolic Christian Academy where her grandchildren attend school.
