CALAIS – Sarah P. “Sally” Brown, 81, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, while staying with her daughter, Debra Duncan, in Land O’Lakes, Fla. Sally was born in Eastport, daughter of George “Chinna” Matthews and Mattie Matthews-Jollotta, and stepfather, Robert “Bob” Jollotta.

Sally was a seasonal resident of Tampa, Fla., and Land O’Lakes, Fla., for 35 years. Sally cherished the time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her favorite past times were seeking out great yard sales, playing cards and bingo with her friends and having visits from her great-granddaughter, Emily Brown.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen E. Brown, with whom she shared an incredible 50-year journey; and three sisters, Norma Brown, Doris Mitchell and Georgia Miliano. Sally is survived by her son, Dennis H. Brown and his wife, Theresa, of Alexander; two daughters, Debra Duncan of Land O’Lakes, Fla., and Patty Hillman and her husband, Dwayne, of Burleson, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sue Brown, who is overseas; brother, Harry Matthews and his wife, Joan, of Rochester, N.H.; sisters, Virginia Hill of Calais and Amelia Frankland of Eastport; grandchildren, Eric Allen Brown, Amanda Sarah Brown, Katie Brown and Alaina Crowley of Calais, and Naomi Hillman of Burleson, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Emily Brown of Calais; several nieces and nephews.

Her final resting place will be at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport. Services and inurnment will take place this coming spring. In lieu of flowers or donations, Dennis, Debbie and Patty would like family and friends to share a memory of Sally in the guest book at
