HARTLAND – Patricia A. Arno, 75, died peacefully Feb. 16, 2011, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born March 1, 1935, at home in Unity, the daughter of Harvey and Evelyn (Gray) Scribner.

Pat was a graduate of Hartland Academy, Class of 1952, and completed clerical studies at Husson College. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Roscoe W. Arno and had two children, Vicki and Craig. For 30 years she worked in accounting at Irving Tanning, Hartland. In 1991 she left the tannery to pursue her dream of owning her own retail-clothing store. She successfully owned and operated the Patricia-Ann Shop, Newport. Sadly, the business closed in 2002 so that Pat could take care of her husband who was battling cancer and had also suffered a stroke. She was a proud member of Grace Linn United Methodist Church and throughout the years sat on many of its committees, taught Sunday day school and vacation Bible school. She was also active in numerous community clubs including Couples Club, Christmas Club and General Federation of Women’s Clubs, to name a few.

She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 55 years in 2008; and her beloved daughter, Vicki, in 2005. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Hicks of Brewer; her son, Craig and wife, Joan Arno, of Palmyra; granddaughters, Kristi and husband, Aaron Bartlett, of Exeter, Dara and husband, Jeffrey Sargent, of Hampden, Jill and husband, Wesley Millett, of Detroit and Amy Arno and companion, Matthew O’Connor, of Portland; and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Gerald and Abigail Bartlett, Alexis Millett, and Parker Millett, due to arrive in May.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Irving Tanning Community Center, Hartland. Spring burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
