LAMOINE – Ronald G. Becker, 72, passed away peacefully Feb. 15, 2011, with his loving family at his side at home, after a brief battle with cancer. Ron was born Dec. 25, 1938, in East St. Louis, Ill., the son of Oliver G. Becker and Mary Anne (Schmitz) Becker of Illinois.

Living and raising his family in Maine was what he enjoyed.

Ron loved to work with wood making furniture, toys and other various things when he wasn’t taking care of his family. Ron has many accomplishments. He married his loving wife, Ruberta E. Richard of Arie, Mass., in 1958. Ron worked and retired from Irving Corp. as dispatcher. Ron will be remembered for being a caring father, his great sense of humor, and being a loving husband. Ron was a very solid man in every way.

Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruberta E. (Richard) Becker of Ellsworth; his two daughters, Mary Leighton and her husband, Larry, and Linda Gonyer and her husband, Chris; and his three sons, Mike Becker and his wife, Christine, Phillip Becker and his companion, Renee Becker, and Ronald Becker and his wife, Renee, all of Maine. Ron also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lenny Becker of Wisconsin, Norman Becker of Hawaii and Steve Becker of Illinois; and four sisters, Carol Shaw of Florida, Jerrie Phelps of Connecticut, Kathy Odum of Illinois and Marlene Shepard of Missouri. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Anne (Schmitz) Becker.

Services will be held in the spring for immediate family.
