GRAND ISLE – Yvon R. Levesque, 68, passed away Feb. 15, 2011, with his family by his side at a Bangor health care facility. He was born June 11, 1942, in Grand Isle, son of Abel and Euphemie (Gervais) Levesque.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 147, Madawaska, after serving his country for three years in the Army. Once honorably discharged from the Army, Yvon came home and worked at Fraser Papers for 35 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a volunteer firefighter for Grand Isle Fire Department. He was often seen volunteering his time at the Mizpah, his last project was building the church.
Yvon is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joan (Cyr) Levesque of Grand Isle; three sons, Allen Levesque of Grand Isle, Steven Levesque of Grand Isle and Kevin Levesque and his companion, Jessica Caron, of Madawaska; three brothers, Ernie Levesque and his wife, Edwina, of St. David, Donald Levesque of Wethersfield, Conn., and Gerald Levesque and his wife, Ginette, of Templeton, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Alcide Levesque and his wife, Cecilia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle. Family and friends may offer their condolences 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
