BANGOR and MILFORD – Robert “Bob” William Marcoux Sr., 81, died peacefully Feb. 18, 2011, at an Orono health care facility. He was born June 27, 1929, in Waterville, son of Warren and Evangeline (Tremblay) Marcoux.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952, with an honorable discharge. He worked for the University of Maine as a chef at the Bear’s Den for 31 years, retiring in 1991.

Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Gabrielle; a daughter, Christine Gwinner; and granddaughters, Tammy and Jody Whitcomb. He is survived by daughters, Marie Whitcomb and husband, George, of Orrington, Cynthia Paschal and husband, Keith, of Corinth and Sandra Vilasuso and husband, Ronald, of Orrington; a son, Robert Marcoux Jr. of Bangor; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise, Jacqueline and Bernadette; and a brother, William.

Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, St. John’s Catholic Church, St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 207 York St., Bangor. Interment will be after the service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
