MORRILL – Charles E. Mills, 58, died Feb. 18, 2011, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born Oct. 11, 1952, in Waltham, Mass., son of Leslie and Nancy (Mandile) Mills.

Charles graduated from Cony High School and Northeastern University College of Pharmacy. He practiced pharmacy at Augusta General Hospital and then at Waldo County General Hospital. From 1981 until his retirement in 2005, he served as director of pharmacy. Charles continued working at Eastern Maine Medical Center in the outreach pharmacy. For more than 25 years, he was a member of Morrill Volunteer Fire Department. Charles had an inquisitive mind and was deeply interested in understanding the world around him. Charles enjoyed carpentry, spending time outside with his dogs, and was a strong supporter of high school sports. He served as a national level track official.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joan Mills of Morrill; three children, Trevor and his wife, Katie Mills, of Rockland, Maggie Mills of California, and Mason Mills of Massachusetts; a brother, Douglas Mills of Sidney; a granddaughter, Amelia of Rockland; a niece, Grace Collins; and a nephew, John Collins.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where services will be held 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kate Winters officiating.
