CARIBOU – Donald Earl Wark, 83, passed away into the hands of his loving God and Savior Feb. 22, 2011, surrounded by family, after a long illness. Donald was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Caribou, to Robert and Effie (Nickerson) Wark.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Don was a tire salesman in the local area for many years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving Donald are six children, Dawn (Wark) Michaud of Vassalboro, Cheryl (Wark) Parziale of Friendship, David Wark of Des Lacs, N.D., Rodney Wark of Terryville, Conn., Lori (Wark) Holman of Caribou and Jon Wark of Caribou. Donald will be remembered fondly by sons-in-law, David Michaud and Boyce Holman; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Wright) Wark. Mr. Wark was the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, Kristopher Michaud of Hartland, Erika Tardiff of Bristol, Conn., Jason Wark of Caribou, Janelle (Wark) Zeigler of Caribou, Ryan, Amanda and Michael Wark of Terryville, Conn., Justin and Brandon Holman of Caribou, Sara and Jonas Lane of Los Alamos, N.M.; and four great-grandchildren survive him, Emberli Michaud, Madison and Jillian Zeigler, and Parker Wark. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Emma Cote, Beatrice Beahm and Pat Rolfe; and one brother-in-law, Elson Cote. Donald was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Arline (Bourgoine) Wark, they were married Nov. 11, 1949. He was also predeceased by five brothers and one sister, Howard, Alexander, Henry, Franklin, Burton and Audrey (Wark) McNeal.
Friends may call 2 p.m. until the time of service Friday, Feb. 25, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where a service will be held 4 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.
Spring interment with full military services will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
