ORONO, BRADLEY and SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. – Edna Wells, 87, died Feb. 15, 2011, at a Sun City Center (Fla.) hospital. She was a loving, caring and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Edna was born March 7, 1923, in Syracuse, N.Y., the only child of Walter and Jennie Jane (Metcalf) Dainer.
She married Lewis C. Reynolds, in 1941 and accompanied him around the world during his service with the U.S. Air Force. Upon settling in Maine, Edna graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Bangor, in 1968, and worked for many years at Orono Nursing Home. Edna was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley, and Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City Center, Fla. She was a member of Ladies of St. Ann.
Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karin J. Shirley and William C. Shirley of Holden and Sun City Center, Fla.; two grandchildren, Christopher Shirley and partner, Kris Miller, of Washington, D.C., and Jennifer Green and husband, Franklin, of Brandon, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Nate and Ben Green, also of Brandon, Fla. Special family members include, Lanette and Richard Petrie of Bradley, and Val and Charles Barnard of Perry. She was predeceased by her husbands, Lewis C. Reynolds and William Wells
A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City Center, Fla.
