BRISTOL, R.I. – Sherry Nightingale Collum passed away Feb. 21, 2011, surrounded by loved ones at her home. She was born Jan. 4, 1950, in Castine, the daughter of Vivian (Anderson) McLaughlin and the late Leslie Nightingale.

Sherry dedicated more than 30 years in service to the defense industry in the Newport, R.I., area. Sherry will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Sherry is survived by her mother, Vivian Anderson McLaughlin and stepfather, Berk McLaughlin, of Bucksport; husband, Richard Collum; son, Bradford Davis and his partner, Becky Sandoz, of Providence, R.I.; daughter, Danielle Davis of Bristol, R.I.; and stepson, Richard Collum Jr. and wife, Joy, of Cranston, R.I. She is also survived by brothers, Sheldon Nightingale and wife, Cherie, of Poland and Larry McLaughlin of Middletown, R.I.; sisters, Wanda Nightingale and April Perkins and husband, Jay, of Bucksport; and sisters, Ronda and Kim Nightingale of Connecticut. Sherry is also survived by the joy of her life, her grandchildren, Avery, AJ and Dylan.

A remembrance of her life will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, R.I. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Friends of Bristol Animal Shelter, 11 Broad Common Road, Unit 155, Bristol, RI 02809.
