BANGOR – Mary-Agnes Clisham died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011. Miss Clisham was born in Bangor, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (McNicol) Clisham.

Miss Clisham attended Bangor schools. She graduated from Castine Normal School, and received a master’s degree from the University of Maine in 1956. She was a teacher for 45 years, teaching in Lincoln, Winn, Troy and Bangor. Miss Clisham taught fourth grade at Vine Street School for many years. She loved to travel. Some of the places she visited were Hawaii, Bermuda, England, Scotland, Spain and Africa. She traveled on the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary. Miss Clisham was a devoted daughter and took care of her mother for many years.

She is survived by five nephews, John A. Clisham of Orono, Steven J. Clisham of Winterport, John E. Ridd of Wilmington, N.C., James R. “Bob” Clisham of Portland and Andrew M. Clisham of Bangor; three nieces, Susan E. Ridd of Glen Allen, Va., Elizabeth L. “Betty” Simpson of Hermon and Peggy F. Brown of Gray; a special great-great-niece, Stephanie C. Clisham of Winterport; and two sisters-in-law, Faye F. and Evelyn A. Clisham of Hampden. She will be sadly missed by her friends, Priscilla T. Hunter of Bangor, Jean E. Devoe of Orono and Laurie Richards of Glenburn. Miss Clisham was predeceased by her sister, Doris C. Ridd, in 1999; and three brothers, John Clisham, in 1968, William J. Clisham, in 1981, and James J. Clisham, in 1989.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Betty Simpson, Miss Clisham’s niece, officiating. After the service relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
