CALAIS – Paul F. Cavanaugh, 72, passed away Feb. 25, 2011, after a second brief battle with cancer. Paul was born March 10, 1938, in Oneida, N.Y., the son of Herbert and Helen Cavanaugh.

He graduated from Oneida (N.Y.) High School, Class of 1956. Dad was one of the first paramedics in the state and lived all over Maine. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing, and with friends visited every state east of the Mississippi River. He moved to Calais Methodist Homes in 2010 to be near some of his grandchildren, where he made some very special friends.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Walter; and his daughter-in-law, Diane. He is survived by his oldest son, Paul and grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Meaghan and Kaitlan; his youngest son, Bill and his wife, Christa, and grandchildren, Seth and Catherine; the mother of his sons, Sally; and a special friend, Carol O’Reilly. He was briefly admitted to Calais Regional Hospital before he moved to Atlantic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Feb. 16, 2011. He received excellent treatment and attention while there, and his family is very thankful to all that helped as things got worse.
