JONESPORT – Sherman William Emerson Sr., 63, passed away Feb. 24, 2011, with his loving family by his side at home, after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 6, 1947, son of the late Lawrence and Rachael (Faulkingham) Emerson.
Throughout the years Sherman was a lobster fisherman and clam digger. He also worked at Smith’s Lobster with his father. He enjoyed hunting, going to camp at Crowley’s Island and collecting model cars. He especially enjoyed the company of his dogs, Flash, Rascal and “The Dude.”
Sherman is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Janie Emerson; four children, Erica Harper and husband, Clyde Jr., of Bernard, Elizabeth Corbett and husband, Ricky, Rebecca Stanwood and husband, Adam, and Sherman Emerson Jr., all of Jonesport; 11 grandchildren, Jodi and Jessie Harper, Kelvin, Elizeah and Logan Emerson, Aaron, Jesse and Taylor Stanwood, James, Julie and Cassie Corbett; four brothers, Robert Emerson, Clifton Emerson and wife, Loretta, Maxwell Emerson and wife, Glennis, and Larry Emerson and wife, Nellie; three sisters, Lucille Albee and husband, Jack, Carla Merritt and husband, Alberton Sr., and Darlene Carver and husband, Byron Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Jacklin Emerson and Ramona Emerson; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Earnest Emerson; and one sister, Delanie (Emerson) Beal.
