LEWISTON – Robert H. Turgeon, 85, left this earthly life Feb. 25, 2011, in Bangor, after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Lewiston, the eighth of 12 children to Raul and Marie (LaPierre) Turgeon.
He married Theresa Bouchard Feb. 19, 1955. They enjoyed more than 52 years together when she passed away from a courageous battle with cancer in August 2007. Their 50th anniversary gathering was a joyous time to remember. He worked for many years as a lumberman, falling trees by hand and later driving a pulp truck to and from the local mills. He loved to tell stories of his days in the woods behind the work horses. He went on to work at R & R Construction Co. for several years. He was very passionate about cowboys in general, and Roy Rogers in particular, and would tell anyone who would listen about Roy. He had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rogers in person in 1996 when his sister, Yvonne, took him to see the Roy Rogers Museum. He also enjoyed watching and following the Boston Bruins. He attended St. Louis, St. Mary’s and First United Pentecostal Church while living in the Lewiston/Auburn area, and when he moved to Brewer he attended First Apostolic Church. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed as well.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Mona of Thonotosassa, Fla., and John and Tammy of Brewer; one grandson, Ian Turgeon and his wife, Caroline, of Deland, Fla.; two sisters, Cecile Paradis of Lewiston and Jacqueline Myroup of Peoria, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Yvonne and Georgette; and seven brothers, Lucien, Gerard, Leo, Maurice, Roland, Albert and Roger.
Visitation will be held 1-2:30 p.m. Monday at Dostie Funeral Home, 2151 Lisbon Road, Lewiston, where a funeral service will begin 2:30 p.m. Interment will be held in the spring at Broadview Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at
