BANGOR – Carol (Nason) Everett, 73, died peacefully Feb. 24, 2011, at her home. She was born March 1, 1937, in Old Town, the daughter of William Henry and Mildred Oleatha (Tweedie) Nason.

Carol was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1955, and the University of Maine at Presque Isle, with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. After graduation from the University of Maine at Presque Isle she taught school at Asa Adams School, Orono. In more recent years she was a well-known and respected real estate broker. Carol was a member of National Association of Realtors and a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., for the realtors. She was also a member of local and state Political Affairs Committee, Penobscot Heritage Living Museum, Senior College Penobscot County and the former Junior League of Bangor. She was active in Children’s Theater, Traveling Theater and Theater of the Enchanted Forrest. Carol was a former board member of Bangor Y, formerly YWCA and YMCA.

Surviving are one daughter, Raena Lynn Everett of Levant; one son, Craig Richard Everett of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren, Reid Everett Pelkey, Reanna Jo Pelkey, Reeghan Lynn Pelkey, Jessica Judith Everett, William Henry Everett, Anna Caroline Everett, John Richard Everett and Elizabeth Jane Everett; one brother, Charles William Nason of Bangor; special nephew, James Jeffrey Nason; special niece, Martha Nason; other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Nason; three brothers, Richard Nason, Eugene Nason and Thomas J. Nason; and Richard Alfred Everett, the father of her children.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
