TROY – Francis Andrews, 83, died Feb. 26, 2011, in Troy, where he lived with his wife, Gail Piper. He was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Corinth, the son of Elmer and Alma Andrews. Francis was raised by his beloved aunt, Leona Williams, in Kenduskeag.
Francis spent his 17th birthday on his first ship in the Merchant Marines, where he was trained in cooks and bakers school. He was predeceased by his first wife of 43 years, Margurite Broussard. They lived in Texas, where he worked at an oil refinery. After moving back to Maine with his family, he worked for various oil companies as one of the first licensed 100 oil burner technicians. He married Gail Piper, Feb. 2, 2002, and moved to Troy.
Francis is survived by his three children, Jeri and husband, Sheldon Corson, of Stockton Springs, Bruce of Bangor and Mike; four grandchildren, Alicia Coffin McPhail of Bangor, Amy Hayden of Orrington, Anistasia and Jared Andrews of Beaufort, S.C.; five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a godchild.
At Francis’ request, there will be no services.
