HOULTON – Florence Irene Bickford, 81, died Feb. 28, 2011, in Houlton. She was born Aug. 6, 1929, in Littleton, the daughter of Bernard and Annie (Henderson) McIver.
Irene worked at Woolworth, Houlton, Pratt & Whitney and Woolrich, both in Connecticut.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Glenn Bickford and his wife, Ginnifer, of Washington state and Amanda Bickford of Vernon, Conn.; four great-grandchildren, Helena, Glenn Landon, George and Faye Lin; three brothers, Gerald McIver of Linneus, Bob McIver and his wife, Mary, of Littleton and Phillip McIver and his wife, Olga, of Florida; a sister, Marie McAfee of Littleton; several nieces, Debie, Irvin and Erica Suitter, and Bonnie Gobeil and her children, Kyle and Craig; several nephews, Larry and Shelley and their children, Lucas and Matthew McAfee, Holly, Matt, Chris and Michael Bouvier, Michael and his wife, Susan, and their children, Courtney, Elizabeth and Andrew McIver, Lucas and Matthew McAfee; and a sister-in-law, Georgia McIver of Portland. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Philip; son, Glenn; and brother, Arnold.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with Deacan Al Burleigh. Interment will be held in the spring in Pittsfield. For an online memory book and to send condolences, please visit
